Ex 32:1 When Moses didn't come back down the mountain
right away, the people went to Aaron. "Look," they said, "make us a god
to lead us, for this fellow Moses who brought us here from Egypt has disappeared;
something must have happened to him." 2 "Give me your gold earrings," Aaron
replied. ...So they all did-men and women, boys and girls. 4 Aaron melted
the gold, then molded and tooled it into the form of a calf. The people
exclaimed, "O Israel, this is the god that brought you out of Egypt!"
5 When Aaron saw how happy the people were about it, he built an altar before
the calf and announced, "Tomorrow there will be a feast to Jehovah!"
6 So they were up early the next morning and began offering burnt offerings
and peace offerings to the calf-idol; afterwards they sat down to feast and
drink at a wild party, followed by sexual immorality.
7 Then the Lord told Moses, "Quick! Go on down, for
your people that you brought from Egypt have defiled themselves, 8 and have
quickly abandoned all my laws. They have molded themselves a calf, and worshiped
it, and sacrificed to it, and said, 'This is your god, O Israel, that brought
you out of Egypt.'" TLB
Ex 32:21 Then he turned to Aaron. "What in the world
did the people do to you," he demanded, "to make you bring such a terrible
sin upon them?"
22 "Don't get so upset," Aaron replied. "You know these
people and what a wicked bunch they are. 23 They said to me, 'Make us a god
to lead us, for something has happened to this fellow Moses who led us out
of Egypt.'
Ex 32:25 Moses saw that the people were
running wild and that Aaron had let them get out of control and so become
a laughingstock to their enemies. 26 So he stood at the entrance to the camp
and said, "Whoever is for the LORD, come
to me." And all the Levites rallied to him. 27 Then he said to them, "This
is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says:
'Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from
one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbor.'"
28 The Levites did as Moses commanded, and that day about three thousand
of the people died. 29 Then Moses said, "You have been set apart to the LORD
today, for you were against your own sons and brothers, and he has blessed
you this day." NIV |

1 Cor 10:3 He was there with them as a mighty Rock
of spiritual refreshment. 5 Yet after all this
most of them did not obey God, and he destroyed
them in the wilderness. 6 From this lesson
we are warned that we must not desire evil things
as they did, 7 nor worship idols as they did. (The Scriptures tell us, "The
people sat down to eat and drink and then got up to dance" in worship of
the golden calf.) TLB

Ezek 33:30 "Son of dust, your people are whispering
behind your back. They talk about you in their houses and whisper about you
at the doors, saying, 'Come on, let's have some fun! Let's go hear him tell
us what the Lord is saying!' 31 So they come as though they are sincere and
sit before you listening. But they have no intention of doing what I tell
them to; they talk very sweetly about loving the Lord, but with their hearts
they are loving their money. (Shas) 32 You are very entertaining to
them, like someone who sings lovely songs with a beautiful voice or plays
well on an instrument. They hear what you say but don't pay any attention
to it!

these terrible things happen to them-as they will-then they will know a prophet

Disinformation Josh 2:8 Rahab went
up to talk to the men before they retired for the night. 9 "I know perfectly
well that your God is going to give my country to you," she told them. "We
are all afraid of you; everyone is terrified if the word Israel is even
mentioned.
10 For we have heard how the Lord made a path through the Red Sea for you
when you left Egypt! And we know what you did to Sihon and Og, the two Amorite
kings east of the Jordan, and how you ruined their land and completely destroyed
their people. 11 No wonder we are afraid of you! No one has any fight left
in him after hearing things like that, for your God is the supreme God of
heaven, not just an ordinary god.TLB In other
words, Israel could have taken the land 40 yrs earlier because they were
feared due to things that had then already happened. It shows the curse of
democracy and disinformation
Birthright Gen 25:29 One day Jacob was cooking stew when Esau
arrived home exhausted from the hunt. 30 Esau: "Boy, am I starved! Give me
a bite of that red stuff there!" (From this came his nickname "Edom," which
means "Red Stuff.")
31 Jacob: "All right, trade me your birthright for it!" 32 Esau: "When a
man is dying of starvation, what good is his birthright?" 33 Jacob: "Well
then, vow to God that it is mine!" And Esau vowed, thereby selling all his
eldest-son rights to his younger brother. 34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread,
peas, and stew; so he ate and drank and went on about his business, indifferent
to the loss of the rights he had thrown away. TLB

Honor> Ezek 36:22
"Therefore say to the people of Israel, 'The Lord God says: I am bringing
you back again, but not because you deserve it; I am doing it to protect
my holy name, which you tarnished among the nations. 23 I will honor my great
name, that you defiled, and the people of the world shall know I am the Lord.

Moses Ex 4:24 As Moses and his family were traveling
along and had stopped for the night, Jehovah appeared to Moses and threatened
to kill him. 25 Then Zipporah his wife took a flint knife and cut off the
foreskin of her young son's penis, and threw it against Moses' feet, remarking
disgustedly, "What a blood-smeared husband you've turned out to be!" Then
God let him alone. [Shows that Moses was still a non-conformist
at the time - his marrying a black woman, does therefore, not
set a new standard for Jews to marry into other nations. This was before
Moses was taught by God after he had left Egypt with the
Israelites]
27 Now Jehovah said to Aaron, "Go into the wilderness to meet Moses." So
Aaron traveled to Mount Horeb, the mountain of God, and met Moses there,
and they greeted each other warmly. TLB
Psalms 78:9 The warriors of Ephraim, though fully armed, turned their backs
and fled when the day of battle came. 10 They did not
keep God's covenant, and they refused to live
by his law. 11 They forgot what he had done--the wonderful miracles
he had shown them, 12 the miracles he did for their ancestors in Egypt, on
the plain of Zoan. ...17 Yet they kept on with their sin, rebelling against
the Most High in the desert. 18 They willfully tested God in their hearts,
19 They even spoke against God himself, saying, "God can't give us food in
the desert. NLT
Psalms 78:42 They forgot about his power and how he rescued them from their

Psalms 78:55 He drove out the nations before them; ...56 Yet though he did
all this for them, they continued to test his patience. They rebelled against

1 Sam 15:22 Samuel replied (Saul), "Has the Lord as much pleasure in
your burnt offerings and sacrifices as in your obedience? Obedience is far
better than sacrifice. He is much more interested in your listening to him
than in your offering the fat of rams to him. 23 For rebellion is as bad
as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as bad as worshiping idols.
And now because you have rejected the word of Jehovah, he has rejected you
from being king." TLB |
